Comparative Analysis of Sobel Filter on NVIDIA CUDA and MPI

Abstract

This paper covers MPI and CUDA implementations of the Sobel Edge Detection filter, and an investigation, comparing the elapsed time of both solutions and how this could be improved in further development. The study shows that the MPI solution is significantly slower in terms of parallelism but deals better with much larger problem sizes.
